Market

Local History

Ferry-Port-on-Craig, like many small towns in days gone by, had its Market Days, Market Cross, and its Fair Day. The Market Cross stood in Tay Street, opposite the house numbered 25, the gable end of which abuts on to the street. Near the chimney head of this dwelling will be seen a cross.

With the introduction of improved methods of transportation local people began to travel to and have a preference for larger markets at Cupar, Perth, or Dundee, so the markets in our small town was discontinued.
