Tayport Fire Station Crew. On top of the fire engine, the wee boy ( now nearing retirement age ) Brian Wyles ( lives in Newport ), sub officer Willie Kemp the local joiner, George Mitchell the coal man, George Berry, James Weir, Tam Bryson the painter and the last one I’m not too sure about. Curious to know if Geo. Berry is a relation. My forebears originate in Tayport/Cert. giv Ferry port on Craig. Elspeth b/ 1847. married to Peter Brown 26/12/1868 Forgan any connection? any relations out there?

I rember Gordie Mitchell when he had a big black horse to pullhis coal cart around the town. My unlce Gordie Atkinson worked with him. My grandad Jock Philp used to load up the bags.

George Mitchell was my granddad and I used to ride on the fire engine on its road back to the station.
