The Harbour was our “swimming pool” and I swam there in the 70’s. There was a swimming club there for many years from the 30’s onwards. Diving from the coal drop was done by those with a brave heart .

I also swam in the Harbour many times and jumped the coal drop . My friends and I often swam in the Harbour including in January ( we must have been Mad ! ) Friends were Lyle Croll ; Gosh Gilcrist : The Wilkie brothers ( David ) ended up winning an Olympic swimming medal if my memory serves me well . We either swam in the harbour or by the Rivit Rock and sometimes Tentsmuir . If we were flush we went to the swimming baths in Dundee .
