I learned to swim here, along with Marjory Duff. Our friend Wendy Martin from Broughty Ferry taught us. She had swimming lessons at Grove Academy so passed her knowledge on to us. Wendy’s Granny, Mrs Nicoll, lived over the wall from us. She became a teacher when she grew up and now lives in St Andrews. Later, she taught us to dive from the slipway in the photo.
