This is one of the small motor boats which continued the ferry service to Broughty Ferry in the 1920s and 30s after the Dolphin and Royal Norman were taken out of service. During that time the service was operated by Messrs Scott of the Abertay Foundary. The last boat on the service was the motor launch Abertay. Lack of demand and the outbreak of World War Two brought an end to the service, and attempts to restart it afterwards failed.

I thought it had continued during the war. My father’s secretary, Miss Palmer, used it to get to work at the Chamberlain’s office.

I think my Grandfather, William Fitzpatrick, drowned from this ferry in October 1929. He worked at the post Office in Dundee. Does anyone have any information on that ?
